Community Organizations

The people of Florence have always been active and involved with local affairs, and as a result, the organizations in our area are an example of a dedicated and caring community:

Some organizations meet weekly and therefore it shouldn't be difficult to remember when the next meeting is; however, for those organizations that meet less frequently, the next meeting date is shown in colored textSupply or update your organization's information.

  • Florence Chapter of AARP (2269)
    • All persons 50-plus are invited and welcomed! It's a friendly group.  Low-income persons can negotiate price of meal ($7.00) with President Bob.
    • Meetings:
      • Where: Olive Crest United Methodist Church, SW Door, 7180 N 60th St. (almost one mile north of Sorensen Expressway) (NE-Map))
        except for June picnic at Cooper Farm.
      • When: Third Monday of month (no meeting in January or February).

    • Presenting Arts and Humanities programs.

      • When: Fourth Thursday each month (except November (3rd Thursday) and December (2nd Thursday))
      • No program in July or August
      • Time: 7:30 P.M., go for 1 hour, free refreshments afterwards

      • Varied: Storytelling to Music, one person to large group.
      • Free for members, $2.50 for non-members (June is a free program)
    • Membership per year is $15 single, $25 family (January through December)
