The cemetery known as Mormon Cemetery (a.k.a. Mormon Pioneer Cemetery) is a one block area of land used as a cemetery during the pioneer days.  It is now one of Omaha's most important treasures.

The Mormon Cemetery was used from 1846 to 1948 initially.  After the Mormons moved west, it was no longer used until Nebraska became a territory in 1854.  The founder of Florence, James Comly Mitchell is buried there.  The cemetery is no longer used but left as a memorial to those pioneers that helped create a new frontier.
